Wondering how to get involved? See below!
Though caring for horses is an incredibly rewarding experience, it is also financially demanding. Our rescue relies solely on donations to operate. All donations are tax deductible and 100% of your donation goes directly to support our organization's mission, vision, and goals.
Is your RMD causing tax issues? We have a solution!
When you take a distribution from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA), you might owe taxes on it. If money from your IRA is donated directly to a qualified charity like South Jersey Horse Rescue, you might save on taxes, and you will help horses who are abused, abandoned, or neglected find healing and a safe forever home.
This kind of donation is called a “qualified charitable distribution” (QCD) and can be used to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD) from your IRA. If you are required to take a distribution but don’t need the money for living expenses, consider reducing your taxes and helping improve the lives of equines in need of rescue.
To make a QCD, contact your financial institution or go to their website for instructions on how to request the distribution. We are a 501c3 charity, EIN # 27-1993387.
You may have the option to instruct your financial institution either to send a check directly to South Jersey Horse Rescue or to your address. It is common for financial institutions to send a check without adequately identifying the donor, even if you explicitly instruct them to do so. So, please notify us that you will be making a QCD donation from your IRA so we can make sure we properly recognize your gift and send you a receipt in a timely manner.
If you choose to have the check sent to your address, it must be made payable to South Jersey Horse Rescue to get the tax benefit of the charitable distribution. Do not deposit the check—simply take the check they send you, and mail it in a new envelope with a note that includes your name, your address, and your email address if you wish to provide it. Mail it to: South Jersey Horse Rescue PO Box 19 Pomona, NJ 08240

Monetary Contributions
Financial donations cover the costs of saving horses and caring for them at the rescue. Monetary gifts pay for feed, hay, medical, and farrier care and property maintenance.
This is the quickest way that you can help us.
Monthly Sponsorship
Become a sponsor to help us care for these horses by donating an amount of money we can count on every month.
If you would like to sponsor a particular horse, please look at our Sponsors Page and let us know which rescue we should put your donation towards. Otherwise, we will use your monthly donation toward the purchase of hay, grain, medications, veterinary, and farrier services for all our rescues!
